More frogs action

The pond is full of frogs atill and the rain seems to have inspired the frogs to burst into chorus during the day.

Frog courship and mating

Frog courtship and mating is now in full swing. I counted at least 20 frogs, but its only an estimate as they are not all at the surface at the same time and they are still easily spooked, even by a movement of the curtain.

Here are a sequence of pictures tken thrpough the conservatory window, a few feet from the edge of the pond.

I went outside after dark and discovered these two late comers.

First frog spawn

I was right, I discovered two clumps of spawn in the pond today, one floating near the back and a small clump underwater at the front.

Two pairs of frogs are active near the submerged clump.

Frog courship

Some of the frogs are starting to pair up. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is spawn in the pond tomorrow.

Frogs love the rain

During the rainy weather more frogs have made it back to our pond. Difficult to count, but lots of splashes and ripples every time I go to the window.

First frogs in the pond

Frogs have now returned to our garden pond. My wife noticed 4 yesterday, croaking at full volume. By the time I got home from work it was dark and so I missed them. I took a look today and saw two. Unlike the sunny weather we had yesterday to day was cold, raining and windy.
